Acknowledgements

The International Scientific Committee (CCI) of the Canarian Observatories requests the users of telescopic installations sited at the Roque de los Muchachos and/or Teide Observatories, to make the corresponding acknowledgement in articles resulting from the observations carried out on these telescopes.

  • WHT, INT, TNG, NOT, Liverpool, Mercator, Stella. This acknowledgement should be made either with a foot note or, if the editors do not allow foot notes, by quoting the following text in the corresponding section: “This article is based on observations made in the Observatorios de Canarias del IAC with the [telescope] operated on the island of [name island] by the [name owner institution] in the Observatorio del [name observatory].” 
  • WHT, INT, TNG, NOT DDT. Publications shall include the following acknowledgement: “Based on observations made with the [Telescope] under Director’s Discretionary Time of Spain’s Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias”, along with the previous one.
  • GTC. Publications that result from data taken with the Gran Telescopio Canarias must credit the use of this telescope in the following way: “Based on observations made with the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC), installed at the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, on the island of La Palma.”
  • GTC DDT. Any publications originating from GTC-DDT shall include a text of acknowledgement of the kind: “Based on observations made with the GTC telescope, in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, under Director’s Discretionary Time”.
  • IAC-NORDIC collaborative time on the NOT. Any publications originating from this kind of observing time shall include an acknowledgement along the following lines: “Based on observations made with the Nordic Optical Telescope operated on the island of La Palma by NOTSA in the Spanish Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias under the joint IACNordic Observing Time programme”.
